Our Team

Joyce Johnson Miller is a member of PGC’s Investment Committee.  

Prior to joining the firm, she formerly served as the Senior Managing Director and Co-Head at Relativity Capital. Prior to that, she served as the Managing Director of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. from 1993 to 2002, where her primary responsibilities included transaction sourcing, investment analysis and general management. She was also responsible for distressed investing in both private equity and trading platforms. In 1995, she founded JJM, LLC. She held senior investment responsibility for more than 60 investments over the course of her nine-year tenure.

 

Joyce's additional responsibilities included underwriting senior and mezzanine loans for middle market companies that had limited access to traditional financing sources. Previously, she served as a Vice-President in ING Bank’s corporate restructuring group and an Associate in Citigroup’s Leveraged Capital finance division. She serves as Chairperson of Marana Aerospace Solutions, Inc. She serves as an Executive Director at EMC Holdco, Inc. She served on the Board of Directors of 13 companies and four privately held companies.

 

She is a 2007 Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. Joyce holds a B.A. in Finance from the University of Denver in 1987.

Boram Kim, CFA 
Managing Partner
Head of Private Credit

Boram is Co-founder and Managing Partner of Pacific Gate Capital Management, LLC (PGC). He is a member of Board of Directors, PGC's Operating and Investment Committees. Since PGC’s formation, Mr. Kim has been responsible for all aspects of the firm's development and adherence to the firm’s vision and core investment philosophy. Mr. Kim closely communicates to investors and strategic partners on the firm's products and is responsible for firm's strategies and overall investment direction.

Prior to founding PGC, Mr. Kim worked for Deutsche Bank's U.S. Leveraged Finance Group in New York. He has underwritten numerous U.S. leveraged loan deals including leveraged buy-outs (LBO), refinancing and debt restructuring deals of major U.S. private and publicly-held companies.

 

Before moving to the U.S., Mr. Kim worked for Deutsche Bank's Asia Leveraged Finance Group in Hong Kong where he closed multiple Asia leveraged loan and high yield bond underwriting deals in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea.

Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mr. Kim was a core member of McKinsey & Company's Asia Pacific Financial Institutions Practice, where he provided strategic advice directly to CEO and CFOs of leading Asian financial institutions including life-insurance, asset management and private banking companies.


Mr. Kim started his first career at Hana Bank, executing leveraged loans to Korean large corporates and conglomerates. In 2012, Mr. Kim was selected as "Pioneers of 2012" by Maeil Business Newspaper in Korea.

 

Mr. Kim holds B.A. in Economics from Seoul National University and a MBA from London Business School. Mr. Kim is also a CFA charter holder.
